Counseling

Counseling services are available for adult Christian workers seeking help for themselves.  Hungarian pastors are able to receive counseling in Hungarian or English.  The typical person or couple coming to the Care Center is seeking help with problems in their marriage, stress related health and emotional problems, anxiety, trauma, burnout and depression.

Christian workers travel to the Care Center from a variety of areas including Russia, Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe.  The couple or single adult stays at a local hotel or bed and breakfast and meets each day at the Care Center for an extended counseling session, usually lasting from 9:30 AM to noon each day.  Depending on the need for counseling, people will work with a counselor at the Care Center for one to two weeks and then return to their place of work.  For some couples and individuals a follow up counseling session is set for 9 months later to continue working on the issues addressed in the initial counseling sessions.

Hungarian pastors living locally travel weekly or bi-weekly to the Care Center for counseling sessions.  Depending on the issues involved, a counseling relationship lasts from 6 months to one year.

Consulting

Leaders are often faced with difficult situations that demand an immediate response.  A team member begins to act out in aggression toward others, a teenager attempts suicide, or a woman is assaulted.   In these circumstances, many leaders will call the Care Center seeking a brief telephone consultation to help them plan their next step.  The Care Center is not able to provide telephone based counseling or deal directly with onsite crises, but will provide consultation to the leader to help him to confidently intervene and make clear decisions.
